Your models (Day 2) should:
Have at least 50% natural brow hair
Not be pregnant or breastfeeding in the first 3 months postpartum
Previous PMU or microblading is permitted
Have had no excessive caffeine, no blood thinners, no alcohol in the last 24 hours
Not have medical conditions around blood, skin, or involuntary movements
Bring a pair of headphones if they wish and dress comfortably
The initial session (new client microblading or combination brows) is 3hrs, the second touch-up appointment is 2hrs.
Yearly maintenance microblading or combination brows (colourboost) sessions are 2hrs.
Corrections (previous microblading elsewhere) are 2-3hrs.
We do our best to make the procedure as comfortable as possible. Most clients are surprised by how little discomfort is involved. Clients are pre-numbed before the service starts and then are numbed again once the skin is broken.
It’s important NOT to get the brows wet during the first 24 hours (including sweat, steam, makeup or skincare). The day of the treatment: gently blot the area with a clean slightly damp cotton round to absorb excess lymph fluid. Do this every 30 minutes for the first 4-6 hours or until no fluid is present. Removing this fluid prevents hardening of the lymph.
Days 2-10: Wash twice daily to remove bacteria and dead skin. Gently wash your eyebrows each morning and night with water and a mild soap (i.e Cetaphil). With a very light touch, use your fingertips to gently cleanse the eyebrows. Rub the area in a circular motion for 10 seconds and rinse with water ensuring that all soap is rinsed away. To dry, gently pat with a clean tissue. DO NOT use any cleansing products containing acids (glycolic, lactic, or AHA), or any exfoliants, face cloths/wipes or a Clarisonic.
Days 3-10:Apply a rice grain amount of aftercare ointment with a cotton swab and spread it across the treated area. Be sure not to over-apply as this will suffocate your skin and delay healing. The ointment should be barely noticeable on the skin. Never put the ointment on a wet or damp tattoo. Do not scrub, rub or pick at the epithelial crust that forms, allow it to flake off by itself. If it is removed before it is ready, the pigment underneath will be pulled out.
Two sessions are required to build enough pigment, while not overcrowding strokes. Different skin types have a varying degree of retention. Two sessions will also increase the longevity of the results.
This is a very minimal risk if proper aftercare is attended to. Sweat, makeup or NOT gently washing the brows twice daily on days 2 through 10 can result in a bacterial infection (which would require the attention of a medical professional). Procedures are executed with primarily disposable implements and with great care of infection control standards meeting Canadian Red Cross BBP protocols.
DO NOT use any glycols, growth serums (i.e Latisse), anti-aging (retinol, vitamin A, vitamin C), anti-acne products directly over the brow area (two finger widths all the way around) for one month prior (or post treatment) to your appointment. This ensures skin quality and proper healing!
The eyebrow area must be healthy, strong, non-sensitive and non-irritated.Here’s how to get your skin ready for the procedure:
-Do not pick/tweeze/wax/perform electrolysis one week before procedure
-Do not tan two weeks prior or have sunburned face
-Do not have any type of facial/peel 3 weeks prior to treatment
-No Vitamin A/Retinol/dermatologic grade exfoliants one month prior (brow area)
-Do not work out the day of the procedure
-Do not have botox less than 2 weeks prior
-Do not take Fish Oil or Vitamin E one week prior (natural blood thinners)
In order to avoid excessive bleeding and poor colour deposit:
-Do not drink alcohol 24 – 48 hours before your tattoo
-Do not consume coffee (caffeine) within 6 hours of your procedure
-Do not take an aspirin or ibuprofen for pain relief 24 hours prior (this thins the blood)
*NOTE* facial skin with ACTIVE psoriasis, eczema, sunburn or any other reason for excessive shedding will be RESCHEDULED as the procedure will not heal evenly.
Initially the colour will appear more vibrant or darker in comparison to the end result. Usually within 7-10 days the colour will mute by 30-40%, and look more natural, as the surface skin has now healed overtop of the microblading.
One month post completed service you should wash, gently exfoliate, moisturize and sunscreen the brows as you would the rest of your face. If the brow area becomes too dry the build up of dead skin cells will give the appearance of a premature fading brow.
Sugaring, Threading or Tweezing are the approved grooming methods for best skin health and microblading longevity.
The pigment is semi-permanent and will fade over time (skin type) and will likely need to be touched-up within 8-18 months after your second session for a first time client.
Yearly colour boosts are ideally done when the brows have faded to 50% of the original results. That time differs depending on skin type, lifestyle and care.
